Canvas Tokyo (キャンバス トウキョウ)

I finally got around to trying out the very popular Canvas Tokyo cafe in Hiroo. Apparently this month they're having a special campaign with JR (Japan Railways), titled「そうだ、KYOTO いこう」, which roughly translates to, "Oh yeah, let's go to Kyoto!"

I, unfortunately, did not get one of their special menu items for this limited time event, however, I did happily enjoy a cafe mocha (typical) and a ベリーベリー (berry berry) doughnut (yes, I spell 'donut' the British way). The doughnut had a mochi mochi texture, reminding me of Mister Donut's Pon de Ring doughnut, and the flavor was indeed very berry.

I visited the cafe around four in the afternoon on a weekday, so it wasn't too busy. The seating area was definitely quite full, but there was always enough seats for someone or two to easily squeeze themselves into. I'd assume that on the weekends a line generally forms and most parties are sadly forced to do carryout.

There were only women here when I was there. I was greeted by two female staff members and only lady customers were giggling and having a merry time upstairs. Given the time and day, I came to the cafe is probably why this was so since men are generally still at work (because Japan is a very patriarchal society).
